As honorary chairman, former chairman of the association and co-initiator of the “Former Obernbreit Synagogue” association, he worked tirelessly to preserve Obernbreit's history and culture of remembrance. Twenty years ago, he founded the association together with Pastor Helmut Walz and has been working with great dedication ever since - for many years as chairman and later as press officer.
He dedicated himself tirelessly to researching and preserving the Jewish history of Obernbit. Whether excavating the mikvah or searching for descendants of former Jewish citizens - Friedrich Heidecker was always there with energy and heart.
His work was primarily aimed at those whose stories needed to be preserved. In this way, he filled the association's motto “Space for encounters and remembrance” with life and humanity. His loss leaves a painful gap that will be difficult to fill.
Friedrich Heidecker was a role model for us all - and will remain so.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 2 p.m. in St. Burkard's Church in Obernbreit.
